Duncan

Please think happy thoughts about our big cat, Duncan. He's just about the coolest cat I've ever had/seen and he's really, really sick right now. I can't stop thinking about it.

It's time for a good cry.

Coworker JJ and I just had a 2 minute long discussion about Star Trek Christmas ornaments. We both knew the words to the dialogue spoken on the Shuttle Craft Galileo ornament: "Shuttle craft to Enterprise. Shuttle craft to Enterprise. Spock here..."

Yep. We were both pretty excited.

Kanye speaks out.

This is encouraging news...Kanye West speaks out against homophobia in hip-hop. Nice. Call me crazy, but I think this is a really big deal.

Vice is for jerkwads.

“I feel like there has been created, in the past two to three years, an indie-yuppie establishment. Bands like Death Cab for Cutie, Iron and Wine, the Arcade Fire, Broken Social Scene, they are great bands, really great bands, with great albums, great songs, high quality. And to me, it’s just so...boring. It’s like fancy-coffee-drinking, Volvo-riding music for kids. And kids should be listening to music that shakes them up more, makes them uncomfortable. … I don’t think we’re ever going to sign an indie rock band. … I want to sign stuff that is more immediate and shakes you up a bit.”--Adam Shore of Vice Records

I guess I'm an indie-yuppie. I guess I don't like music that shakes me up, makes me feel uncomfortable. You know, music like Bloc Party. Thank God Vice Records has come along and shaken me out of my indie-yuppie turpor! Bloc Party was the key! Who knew that a band whose best songs sound like Boy outtakes was writing the music that was gonna make me, I don't know, burn my wife's Cabrio and cut somebody?!

Thanks, Vice Records, you major-label apologist dickfaces! You and your disgustingly self-important "we act like we don't give a crap, but we really do" magazine (see also: New York Press, Maxim, Blender, etc.) can go to hell.

And take Bloc Party with you.

The Agent turns 26!

So my lovely sister, Agent McClacho, turned 26 yesterday, but my internet was down at home! Drats!

We went and visited her in Tassee this weekend and had a good time, though the visit was too short. The best part of it (besides Hopkins Eatery and Food Glorious Food) was when the turtles decided to congregate in front of us at Lake Ella, as if we had some kind of magic, turtle-calling powers. I mean, there were A LOT of turtles in front of us, maybe 20+. And the big snapping turtles were getting closer and closer. On second thought, it was kinda creepy.

But we saw the Wedding Crashers, and that was pretty funny, so all in all, a good birthday celebration.

I bought my sis a ladder for her present.

Break out the patchouli and/or COCKS hats!

Venice Is Sinking will be playing the halcyon halls of hippie-/frat-dom tonight...The Georgia Theatre! I'm so excited I could just plotz. We're opening for Effie's Club Follies. They are a burlesque show. I can't decide whether I want them to dance during our performance or not. It might make me feel sorta cheesy. We're playing early, so no excuses! You don't want me to take off my shirt again, do you?

DO YOU?

MUH MUH?! (voice muffled as shirt is removed)

You missed a good show last night.

The aftermath. Unfortunately, the nudity did not extend to the ladies.

Okay, so this is amazing

"I have 1000 years of power!" I'm going to start wearing gauntlets and saying that to random passersby on the street.

Today is alright for 2nite!

Okay, I have to recap Prom and stuff, but I have to tell you about a hot show tonight!

Big Gray. Solo. A man and his semi-piano. With Paris Street and the Pastel Knit Appreciation Society. Tonight at the Caledonia. I will have Cyndi Lauper sheet music and maybe some more covers. And lots of pop hits. And no band.

Ya-ya-ya-yi-yi-yeah!

I must be doing something right!

I got an email today from eports@spring-fling.net that said: "You have written a very good text, excellent, good work!" I was sooo excited that I immediately opened the attachment that came with it! But then nothing happened. What a rip!

I was so proud of my text. Sigh.

Portait of a lady.

I think that, recently, based on some stupid comments I have made--comments probably made in a bout of defensive posturing whilst trying to weasel my way out of some precarious situation I'd bungled my way into--my wife is under the impression that I don't find her supportive. She is a wonderful wife and a guy couldn't be luckier to have her around, propping 'em up. You see, she wants what's best for me all of the time, and I usually don't or can't tell or can't make up my mind what's best for me. I'm messy, annoying, and clumsy. If I didn't have her I might be in rough shape. Plus, she's been very hopeful during my arduous job search.

So, Mame, I know that you're supportive, and I'm sorry for ever suggesting that you weren't. I love you.

I have a secret.

Yep. I sure do.
